Maria Pribis OD

Dr. Pribis is a board certified optometrist who pro-vides a wide range of primary eye care services including vision testing, eyewear prescriptions, contact lenses and the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. She has a special interest in dry eye disease.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Pribis earned her doctorate at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, graduating with High Honors. She also completed a second Bachelor of Science in Visual Sciences during this time. She was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.

Dr. Pribis completed her residency at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Baltimore, MD in ocular disease, vitreoretinal disease, glaucoma and low vision management. In addition to her residency specializations, she completed rotations with the Wilmer Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Pribis was very active in research during her training. She has contributed to prospective clinical trials and experimental research projects for the University of Pittsburgh, Johnson and Johnson, and Regeneron. She has published several case reports that have been recognized by the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association and the South Eastern Conference of Optometry. Dr. Pribis is a national and international speaker on ocular disease and pharmacology. She is involved with the company KMK Educational Services to help educate future doctors.

Dr. Pribis is a member of the American Optometric Association and The Connecticut Association of Optometrists. She was named CT’s young optometrist of the year in early 2015. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2010. Dr. Pribis was also president of the Student Optometric Service to Humanity where eye care was provided in Guatemala. She is the founder of ocularprime.blog which focuses on patient education on various topics within eyecare.

Dr. Pribis enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with her husband, daughter and two dogs.
Dr. Pribis joined Stamford Ophthalmology in 2010.
