3 hrs TQ - This course will provide a basic overview of injection procedures used in optometric practice including: injectable medications, side effects, adverse events/complications, and proper patient education. OSHA guidelines and blood borne pathogen basics will be reviewed. We will review the supplies necessary to perform injections procedures. Videos will be used to demonstrate the basic skills for performing injections in the office and cover individual techniques including intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, and periocular injections.

**Attendees will practice injections on one another as part of the training.

*** This course does not allow attendees to administer injections apart from the COVID-19 vaccination.

3 hrs TQ - This course will highlight the interesting ways OCT can improve diagnosis and management of patients with retinal disease. Case presentations will highlight the utility of OCT including managing macular holes, retinal traction, macular edema, macular degeneration, and Plaquenil evaluation.

Biologics are a newer category of medication that target specific markers in the body to reduce the burden of disease. This course will highlight the many biologics currently available to treat ocular disease and systemic diseases that have ocular manifestations. The course will highlight co-management strategies for the many conditions where biologics can improve patients’ ocular and systemic health.
